The MELAB project focuses on developing live bacterial therapies to enhance cancer treatment responses. By using metabolically enhanced lactic acid bacteria, it aims to deliver beneficial metabolites directly to the gut, improving the efficacy of chemotherapy and reducing side effects for patients.
Inter-individual variation in cancer therapy responses is significant, with a substantial fraction of patients not responding to treatment.
