This project investigates the impact of mental disorders on the wellbeing and economic prosperity of family members and partners, using extensive Finnish population data. It aims to understand the broader social consequences of mental illness across the lifespan and identify potential causal relationships.
Mental disorders have an enduring impact on individuals wellbeing and economic prosperity.
Although it is often assumed that these effects extend to the wellbeing of family members and friends as well, comprehensive large-scale direct investigations have rarely been conducted and it remains unclear how enduring these influences are.
