This project studies the interactions between two types of stem cells and blood vessels to enhance cardiac regeneration after myocardial infarction. It aims to identify key molecules involved in these interactions and compare the regenerative potential of different stem cell types.
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can contribute to the regeneration of different tissues by differentiating into a wide variety of cell types, including cardiomyocytes, adipocytes and endothelial cells among others.
MSCs represent a reliable source of adult stem cells in humans.
