This project investigates the complex biosynthetic networks in plants that produce valuable natural compounds. By studying metabolons, the project aims to enhance microbial production platforms for bioactive compounds, flavors, and colors, ultimately contributing to a bio-based economy.
Why most plant natural products escape industrial production?
So far, synthesis of many of these high-value compounds in microbes is simply based on putting together all the players in a pathway.
