This project investigates the genomic evolution of cephalopods, specifically the Hawaiian bobtail squid. It aims to understand how genomic changes contribute to significant biological innovations, such as advanced brain development, using comparative genomics and molecular techniques.
Our understanding of how genomic changes translate into organismal novelties is often confounded by the complexity of the underlying genome architecture.
