The MicroCaT project seeks to validate IndiTreat, a personalized cancer treatment test that uses 3D cell cultures from patients' tumors. This approach aims to identify the most effective and least toxic drug regimens for colorectal cancer, improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.
Every year around 350.000 patients in the EU are newly diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC).
Although € 1.4 Billion are spent on CRC drugs, the majority of patients fail to respond to therapy because their individual tumor is resistant to the chosen treatment.
