This project focuses on creating a microfluidic device for rapid and cost-effective detection of bacteria in urine samples. The goal is to significantly reduce diagnostic time and improve accessibility in clinical and point-of-care settings.
We propose to develop a microfluidic chip-sized assay for low-cost, sensitive, rapid, and multiplexed detection of bacteria in urine.
We aim to reduce bacterial diagnostic time from the current standard of 1-3 days to several minutes.
The device will have application to both conventional clinical microbiology laboratories and point-of-care settings, and will eliminate dependence on highly trained operators.
