The MASS-CARE project seeks to develop a molecular screening assay for cervical cancer that is compatible with self-sampling. By focusing on specific biomarkers, it aims to improve detection rates and increase participation in screening programs.
With 13,000 deaths each year in the EU, cervical cancer (CC) is one of the deadliest cancers worldwide.
This is unnecessary, since CC is well detectable and treatable at early stages.
For this reason, most EU countries have screening programs in place.
