The MiReCOL project focuses on ensuring the safety and reliability of carbon dioxide storage by analyzing leakage mechanisms and developing mitigation strategies. It involves laboratory tests and field demonstrations to inform regulatory processes and improve safety measures.
Safety, reliability and controllability are essential elements influencing the public perception and licensing of CO2 storage.
Therefore a thorough analysis of leakage mechanisms and threats to the safety and security of storage will be the first activity in the MiReCOL project.
