This project explores the relationship between caricature and perception, emphasizing how exaggerated visual features can reveal deeper truths about reality. It aims to define literary caricature and analyze its presence in various texts, highlighting its significance across different media and historical contexts.
Neuroscientific research suggests a link between the style of caricature and neurocognitive procedures of perception: the brain perceives reality and makes sense of it by isolating and emphasising patterns.
Similarly, by misshaping and exaggerating visual features, caricature provides an enhanced perception of facts and feelings, uncovers hidden aspects of reality, and reveals unconventional knowledge about the world.
