This project focuses on investigating nanoscale friction phenomena through innovative experiments and theoretical modeling. It aims to understand frictional anomalies and develop methods for controlling friction in various materials, which could have significant implications for technology and materials science.
In the next five years, novel nanoscale friction experiments will provide decisive data on the physics of a century-old, central, yet incompletely understood area of physics.
