The MoroccoMasculinities project examines the subculture of male juvenile delinquents known as tcharmils, focusing on how their identities are shaped by urbanization, media, and state policies. It aims to understand the intersection of gender, class, and ethnicity in the context of social anxieties and moral panic.
Male juvenile delinquency as represented by self-styled tcharmils has been the focus of a moral panic in Morocco over the last years.
