This project analyzes the portrayal of motherhood in 20th-century Spanish media, focusing on narratives that depict maternal experiences as abnormal or problematic. It aims to explore the societal perceptions of motherhood and the impact of these representations on gender studies.
Many depictions of motherhood in 20th-century European media fall under what Susan Maushart described as the mask of motherhood (3).
