The MUYA-IIIF project seeks to enhance image accessibility across different digital repositories by developing a tool that annotates textual structures in images. This will facilitate better search capabilities and improve the user experience when accessing historical manuscripts.
Images published on the Web are currently locked up in silos because institutions use different image delivery software on their networks, one that is usually tightly coupled with their custom metadata structures.
This has led to isolated data silos that prevent information to be easily reused.
