This project aims to enhance the understanding of nitrogen conversion processes, crucial for sustainable energy. By developing advanced spectroscopic tools, it seeks to elucidate the mechanisms of nitrogenase and heterogeneous catalysts, paving the way for improved catalytic systems for ammonia production.
The conversion of dinitrogen (N2) to ammonia (NH3) is of fundamental biological and economic importance.
The catalytic conversion is achieved either industrially, using heterogeneous catalysts or biologically, by the nitrogenase enzyme.
However, in both cases, the mechanistic details of the process are not fully understood.
