This project investigates the energy transfer processes in light harvesting complexes of purple bacteria using advanced single molecule spectroscopy. By employing optical antennas, it aims to enhance fluorescence signals, allowing for a deeper understanding of the quantum effects influencing photosynthesis efficiency.
The general objective of the project is to understand the photophysical processes in light harvesting complexes in the vicinity of optical antennas and particularly, the impact of quantum coherence on efficiency and directionality of ultrafast energy transport in photosynthesis.Purple bacteria is an organism that most effectively transforms solar energy into chemical one.
