This project explores the role of the basal forebrain in cognitive functions such as attention and learning. It utilizes advanced techniques to study how specific neurons in this area contribute to these processes, aiming to enhance understanding of cognitive impairments.
The basal forebrain (BF) constitutes a major neuromodulatory center, providing extensive projections to the entire forebrain, including all of cortex.
Mounting evidence demonstrates that these projections play a key role in cognitive functions, including learning and attention.
