This project investigates enteric neuropathy, a condition affecting gut function due to neuron dysfunction. It focuses on understanding the role of specific macrophages in supporting enteric neurons, aiming to identify therapeutic targets for treating gastrointestinal disorders linked to obesity, diabetes, and aging.
The gastrointestinal tract has the vital task to digest and absorb ingested food, a complex process requiring coordinated integration of motility, secretion, vascularization and absorption.
