This project investigates the role of the hypothalamus in obesity by studying how incretin-based therapies and oxytocin affect hypothalamic signaling and structure. It aims to enhance understanding of neurobiological mechanisms to develop effective obesity treatments.
Obesity prevalence is dramatically increasing worldwide.
The hypothalamus seem to be a pivotal brain structure in reversing obesity, as hypothalamic activation by incretin-based therapies (IBT) reduces body weight by 25%.
