This project develops a photon counting detector for spectral computed tomography, focusing on applications in neuroradiology. It aims to optimize the design and commercial potential of the technology, particularly for assessing carotid plaque vulnerability and brain perfusion measurements.
This project is a spin-off from a 6 MEUR and six year research effort at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) where a photon counting detector for spectral computed tomography has been developed. A functional bench-top prototype already exists and has been used for phantom image acquisition as well as system evaluation and optimization.
