The NeutrAD project focuses on developing the first disease-modifying drugs for Alzheimer's Disease by targeting inflammation caused by neutrophils. This innovative approach aims to halt neurotoxicity and improve cognitive function in patients, addressing a critical need in Alzheimer's treatment.
With the NeutrAD ERC PoC project, we present the first disease-modifying Alzheimers Disease (AD) drugs that abrogate leukocyte-mediated neurotoxicity and represent a novel class of drugs in the treatment of AD.AD is a neurological disorder characterized by progressive deterioration of cognitive function and leads to death within 3-9 years after diagnosis. AD is highly prevalent in elderly, and it is estimated that 35M patients suffer from the disease worldwide.
