This project aims to enhance food security by improving wheat through genetic diversity. It focuses on identifying and repairing deleterious mutations in wheat genomes, utilizing advanced genomics and machine learning to facilitate gene transfer from wild relatives, ultimately aiming for better crop performance.
Addressing the challenge of food security during the current environmental crisis will necessitate rapidly breeding a new generation of adapted cultivars.
Genetic diversity and selection of natural variants are key to advances in breeding.
