The NGIPALAJEM project investigates the origins of Homo sapiens by exploring fossil records and ecological dynamics in East Africa. It focuses on uncovering new hominin specimens and understanding the impact of climatic changes on species evolution over the last million years.
Our understanding of the origins of our species, Homo sapiens, has undergone a major shift.
New fossils, dates and genomic studies have consolidated our African origin.
Yet, they also indicate a deeper past, involving multiple events.
