This project addresses the challenge of sorting plastic waste by developing alternatives to carbon black that are detectable by Near Infra-Red spectroscopy. The goal is to improve the recycling process for black and colored plastics, enhancing their usability in high-value applications.
Currently, around 25 million tonnes of plastic waste is created each year across Europe, primarily from three sources – consumer packaging, WEEE disposal and vehicle dismantling.
