This project investigates nonlinear optical waves at mesoscopic scales, focusing on how light interacts with various materials and fluids. It aims to understand complex phenomena such as optically-induced convection and spatial solitons in different optical settings, including photonic lattices and nano-suspensions.
We will investigate, experimentally and theoretically, the dynamics of nonlinear optical waves at mesoscopic scales, ranging from several wavelengths (~10 microns) down to the sub-wavelength regime (~0.2 microns).
Our studies will cover a variety of optical settings: from various kinds of periodic systems (photonic lattices) with and without disorder, to bulk materials and nano-suspensions.
