This project focuses on long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and their roles in cellular processes, particularly in cell senescence related to cancer. By using advanced techniques, it aims to identify lncRNAs that could serve as biomarkers or therapeutic targets.
The sequencing of the human genome has revealed that protein-coding genes correspond only to approximately 2% of the genome.
Despite of this, the vast majority of the mammalian genome is actively transcribed.
Thus, it is intriguing what this non-coding RNA (ncRNA), which was previously considered as transcriptional “noise”, is doing in the cell.
