This project focuses on developing nanoporous gold, a stable catalyst for automotive catalytic converters, to effectively reduce toxic gas emissions during cold starts. By integrating this innovative material, the project aims to lower air pollution and improve public health associated with vehicle emissions.
70% of the toxic gasses emitted from automotive exhaust systems originates from the first 60 seconds of the cold start.
