This project aims to create a comprehensive historical narrative of Jerusalem by interlinking various archives from the Ottoman and British Mandate periods. It seeks to overcome fragmented historical perspectives by focusing on urban citizenship and the interconnectedness of different communities in the city.
Jerusalem is undoubtedly one of the cities that receives the most attention from historians, but the available bibliography is plagued, generally speaking, by three major flaws.
First, most studies are devoted either to ancient and medieval history, or to the very recent history of the city (after the 1948 War).
