This project investigates the neural circuits responsible for locomotion using optogenetics to manipulate specific neurons. It aims to understand sensory feedback mechanisms and improve recovery after spinal cord injuries by studying the role of cerebrospinal fluid-contacting neurons.
Locomotion relies on neural networks called central pattern generators (CPGs) that generate periodic motor commands for rhythmic movements.
