This project focuses on developing advanced genetically encoded sensors to monitor neurochemical signaling in living animals. By enabling real-time imaging of neurotransmitters and hormones, it aims to enhance our understanding of brain functions related to health and disease.
How specific neurochemicals (neurotransmitters, neuropeptides and hormones) influence our mental states and behaviors remains one of the biggest questions in biology.
So far, we largely lack tools to precisely monitor the temporal and spatial profile of neurochemical signaling in behaving animals.
