This project investigates the role of layer-6 neurons in the primary visual cortex of non-human primates, focusing on their influence on visual perception and attention. It employs advanced techniques like optogenetics and imaging to explore how these neurons affect information processing.
In order to achieve a more complete understanding of neocortical brain functions in health and disease, we need to delineate the computations of specific cell populations and how they dynamically exert their impact on connected target neurons.
