This project focuses on enhancing ocean surface surveillance by adapting a prototype sensor technology. The goal is to improve detection of small boats and other surface objects, thereby increasing safety and navigation in offshore activities.
Offshore activities in general face numerous risks in terms of safety, security and navigation.
Above surface layer objects and (to less extent) below surface objects can be observed (detected, characterised and tracked) with numerous sensor solutions (radar, sonar, etc.) on various platforms (satellites, ships, offshore energy platforms, etc.).
