This project seeks to develop a novel therapeutic stent for oesophageal cancer, aiming to restore function rather than just providing palliative care. The stent will be drug-eluting, shape memory, and biodegradable, enhancing treatment options.
There is a need for addressing the condition and symptoms associated with oesophageal cancer in Europe and Worldwide.
Around 5-10 in every 1000 men and around 1 in every 1000 women will develop oesophageal cancer during their lifetime, with care being mainly palliative via oesophageal stents, rather than therapeutic.
