This project investigates how plants detect and respond to pathogens through lipid-derived signals called oxylipins. By studying the effects of the oxylipin 9-hydroxyoctadecatrienoic acid on Arabidopsis seedlings, the project aims to identify key genes involved in plant immunity and defense mechanisms.
Plants recognize invading pathogens and trigger an array of signalling events eventually leading to a resistance response that prevents or limits pathogen growth in planta.
One signalling event upon pathogen infection is the formation of lipid derived oxylipins.
