The PelCon project aims to understand nutrient dynamics and trophic connections in pelagic food webs, focusing on inshore and offshore ecosystems in Hawai’i. It utilizes stable isotope techniques to assess nutrient sources and connectivity.
The pelagic food web plays an important role in nutrient recycling and the production of food for commercially harvested species, especially in highly productive marine ecosystems.
