The PERCEPSION project explores sexual selection in plants, focusing on how they may filter mating partners based on pollen characteristics after pollination. It combines experimental evolution and physiological analyses to understand plant communication and reproductive strategies.
Sexual selection has been extensively studied in the animal kingdom but much less so in plants.
Nevertheless, increasing evidences suggest that sexual selection has played an important role in shaping plant reproductive strategies.
