PhotoBioCat focuses on developing sustainable, light-driven enzyme-catalyzed processes for producing chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The project trains researchers in innovative biocatalysis techniques and aims to scale these processes for industrial applications.
Pharmaceutical and chemical products present in everyday life are currently obtained from waste- and energy-intensive processes.
Alternative routes that overcome this waste challenge should offer a cleaner and long-lasting solution.
