The PhotoMaKEASIA project investigates how European scholars used photography to develop knowledge about Asia, focusing on its impact in various fields such as art history and archaeology. It explores historical and contemporary images to understand their influence on perceptions of Asia.
The history of photography shares a profound connection with the history of the modern scientific disciplines, including art history, anthropology, and archaeology, as well as modern medicine, biology, and the natural sciences.
