This project develops a device for single-molecule protein sensing and sequencing, focusing on identifying protein isoforms, particularly the Vascular endothelial growth factor family. It combines plasmonic nanostructures with a custom gel to enhance fluorescence and improve detection of low-concentration proteins.
Single-molecule protein sensing and sequencing technologies are emerging on the horizon as new powerful tools, which ultimate goal is the characterization of the proteome, namely the total set of proteins made by a cell or organism.
