This project explores the potential of microorganisms and enzymes from xylophagous insect larvae to degrade plastics, aiming to mitigate plastic pollution. It employs advanced techniques to identify and confirm the plastic-degrading capabilities of these organisms.
The recalcitrance of plastics leads to their accumulation in the environment, where physical deterioration in absence of degradation is causing widespread pollution.
