This project investigates protein phosphatase-1, a key enzyme involved in numerous cellular processes. It aims to develop selective chemical tools to study its interactions and functions, potentially leading to new therapeutic targets for various diseases.
Protein serine/threonine phosphatases (PSTPs) are considered undruggable although they are involved in the most prominent post-translational modifications.
This is mainly due to an apparent lack of substrate specificity.
