PRECISION SMOM focuses on advancing catalysis by utilizing solid-state methods to create highly active organometallic complexes. It aims to redefine molecular synthesis and catalysis by exploring reactions in solid-state environments, overcoming limitations of traditional solution-based methods.
Fast and efficient solution-based homogeneous catalysis, or the synthesis of complexes with weakly bound ligands (e.g. methane), often requires the formation of a highly active, coordinatively unsaturated, metal centre.
