This project seeks to establish a rigorous mathematical theory to explain the effectiveness of heuristic algorithms, particularly in data preprocessing. By developing a new theory of polynomial time compressibility, it aims to enhance algorithm performance and broaden the understanding of computational efficiency.
The main research goal of this project is the quest for rigorous mathematical theory explaining the power and failure of heuristics.
The incapability of current computational models to explain the success of heuristic algorithms in practical computing is the subject of wide discussion for more than four decades.
