The PRIDE project investigates the biodiversity crisis in the Caspian-Black Sea region by studying the evolution of its unique aquatic life over the past 2 million years. It aims to understand the impacts of environmental changes on biodiversity and develop strategies for conservation.
Since the 1930s, the unique endemic aquatic biota of the Caspian-Black Sea region is facing a biodiversity crisis as it is severely affected by anthropogenic activities such as habitat destruction, invasive species and pollution.
