This project investigates structural variations in the genomes of great apes by sequencing multiple individuals from various species. It aims to understand the evolutionary significance of these variations and their implications for human diseases through comprehensive genomic analysis.
Structural variation and copy-number variant regions (CNVs) (including segmental duplications) are usually underrepresented in genome analyses but are becoming a prominent feature in understanding the organization of genomes as well as many diseases.
