The GREEN FORESEEN project aims to analyze fuelwood consumption in Greece to understand its impact on illegal logging and develop a forest sector model. This model will help improve forest management and inform policy decisions regarding sustainable resource use.
The economic role of the forest sector in Greece is a neglected field of academic inquiry.
Studies of the markets for Greekforest products, are few and far between.
This reflects a general lack of investment in the forest sector of the country.
Anexample of this is that the last national forest census was carried out in 1992.
