The DUNE project develops a wearable, infrastructure-free localization system for personnel in critical infrastructure protection. This system aims to enhance situational awareness in environments where GPS is unreliable, ensuring better safety for first responders and inspectors.
A key enabling element to boost the Prevention, Preparedness and Consequence Management for the Critical Infrastructures (CI), including Urban Soft Targets, comes from the capability of pinpointing the location of the personnel operating in the frame of the Critical Infrastructure Protection.
Although GPS positioning is a primary tool for localisation, nearly all CIs are GPS-denied/unreliable environments, as well as most urban soft targets.
