This project aims to map the regulatory networks of lipid metabolism in yeast, focusing on how lipid enzymes are controlled by phosphorylation. The findings will enhance understanding of lipid homeostasis and its implications for various diseases.
The lipidome of eukaryotic cells consists of hundreds to thousands of lipid species that constitute membranes, store metabolic energy and function as bioactive molecules.
The physiological importance of lipid complexity is demonstrated by numerous diseases with inherent perturbations of lipid homeostasis including obesity, atherosclerosis, cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
