This project aims to enhance the therapeutic potential of interleukin 17A by engineering its receptor for improved stability and binding. The goal is to develop a more effective treatment for autoimmune diseases like psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Protein therapeutics has increased dramatically over the last two decades and currently includes more than 130 therapeutic proteins in almost all fields of medicine.
However, many proteins are not suitable for therapeutic application due to the lack of sufficient in vivo stability and biological efficacy.
Thus, engineering of existing proteins for improved affinity and stability will significantly increase their potential for therapeutic applications.
