The PUMA project aims to create a portable system to prevent and detect pressure ulcers in wheelchair users, particularly those with spinal cord injuries. By focusing on tissue viability and integrating dynamic repositioning and electrical stimulation, the project seeks to enhance quality of life.
Wheelchair users (over 5 Million) are prone to develop Pressure Ulcers (PU), especially Tetraplegic Spinal Cord Injury (T-SCI, 114.000) as they do not dispose of the natural mechanisms for prevention.
